- Give science students accessible opportunities to participate authentically in the full practice of academic science.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that values diversity and the importance of diverse perspectives, breaking down barriers to STEM participation.
- Promote an understanding of the peer review process as a cornerstone of scientific inquiry and nurturing the development of students' skills, confidence, and identity within the scientific community.
Scope:
The journal welcomes submissions from a wide array of scientific disciplines, embracing students' diverse interests and the ever-evolving landscape of scientific inquiry.
We are dedicated to publishing original research papers that herald new findings, methodologies, or understandings in science. Our definition of original research encompasses studies based on students’ analysis of either primary data (from experiments or observations) or secondary data (e.g. from public databases). We also value the scientific integrity of confirmation studies and the insights from negative results, recognising their importance in the pursuit of knowledge.
The journal seeks submissions that stand out for their:
- Clarity and Creativity: Papers should be clear in their communication and creative in their approach, incorporating engaging storytelling that showcases the unique perspectives of young researchers.
- Scientific Rigour: We look for research that is not only valid and well-conducted but also addresses a significant question in a novel manner. The study should demonstrate a profound understanding of the scientific principles and clearly articulate how the research contributes to the broader field.
- Relevance and Impact: Contributions should resonate with a wide audience, capable of igniting interest among varied academic circles. Papers that tackle contemporary scientific issues or represent significant advancements are particularly welcome.
